Before proceeding with the assembly you will need to prepare the pre-assembled gland and displacer stem. Clean the displacer stem with a cloth and slide it into the gland. Hold the displacer stem as shown and roll the gland along the edge of your finger. The purpose of this step is to remove any particles of dust that may be inside the gland. The displacer stem should drop freely through the gland under its own weight. If it does not then repeat this step.
